«ROSTOK-HOLDING» Gathers Late Grains

“ROSTOK-HOLDING» started gathering late grains, i.e. soybeans, sunflower and corn.

“This year we are harvesting ahead of the schedule. Especially since the weather helps us.

Corn, sunflower and soybeans are our key crops. Their share in the group’s crop mix is 74%. So we are looking forward to a good harvest.

We have prepared in a proper way. We increased grain drying capacity of our elevator complexes in Ichnia town (Chernihiv region), Glukhiv town (Sumy region) as well as modernized grain drying capacity of the elevator complex in Novhorod-Siverskii city (Chernihiv region). We also purchased additional agricultural equipment such as John Deere tractors, Case IH Patriot self-propelled sprayers, Amazone spreaders, etc”, — said Yurii Lebedev, Chief agronomist of the group.

As of September 11, soybeans have been harvested on the area of 2.4 thou ha, which is 25% of the aggregate amount.

The farms also started collecting corn and sunflower. To date, corn has been collected from 0.6 thou ha of the planned 22.5 thou ha. Sunflower has been collected from 0.2 thou ha of the planned 9.6 thou ha.

The ultimate yields are expected to meet the expectations.

Simultaneously, farms are preparing fields for sowing winter wheat. Next year winter wheat is to be sown on 10.0 thou ha.

Just to recap, in 2018 the share of corn is 40% in the group’s crop mix, while the share of sunflower and soybean amounts to 17% each.

*According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of September 10 the average yield of corn in Ukraine reached 5.6 tons/hectare (3% of the area harvested). The average yield of sunflower reached 2.0 tons/hectare (21% of the area harvested). The average yield of soybean reached 2.4 tons/hectare (11% of the area harvested).
