In 2015, the total yield of spring crops of the group increased by 2.5 times and reached 61.7 thou tons.
In particular, the croppage of winter wheat amounted to 50.6 thou tons (2014: 23.9 thou tons), the volume of spring barley production reached 11.1 thou tons (2014: the crop was not part of crop mix).
The average yield of winter wheat reached the level of 48.0 hundredweight/ha. Spring barley yield amounted to 50.0 hundredweight/ha. These figures are well above average for Ukraine. Thus, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine as of August 19 the average yield of winter wheat and spring barley in Ukraine reached the level of 39.4 hundredweight/ha and 30.4 hundredweight/ha, respectively.
“Of course, weather conditions — dry autumn, early winter frosts — adjusted our final yield figures. Yet, in general we are satisfied with the results achieved. About 70% of wheat we harvested is of high quality. The bulk of the produce has been already contracted,” — says Dmytro Kupavtsev, Chief Operations Officer of “ROSTOK-HOLDING”.
Just to recap, in 2015 the area under winter crops amounted to 10.6 thou hectares (2014: 4.2 thou hectares), while spring barley was sown on 2.2 thou hectares.
In 2015, the share of winter wheat in group’s crop mix amounted to 21%, while the share of winter barley totaled 4%.
