The farms of “ROSTOK-HOLDING” group harvested 35 thou tons gross weight of sunflower seeds which is a twofold increase, if compared to the previous year.
The increase in volumes received is due to the expansion of the area under the crop to 14.2 thou hectares (in 2012, sunflower was planted on 8 thou hectares) as well as due to high yields.
The average yield of sunflower farmed by the group stands at 24.7 centner/ha.
“At first extensive rainfall in September in the North of Ukraine caused distress and evoked uncertainty about the possibility of timely start of sunflower harvesting, especially given the fact that 89% of our sunflower crop was planted in the fields of Sumy region. However, the expertise of our agronomists and state-of-the-art technologies assisted in gathering the crop despite the weather, though not in compliance with the optimal timeline”, — said Yurii Lebedev, Chief agronomist of “ROSTOK-HOLDING” group.
