“ROSTOK-HOLDING” Gathered Oilseeds

The farms of “ROSTOK-HOLDING” harvested sunflower and soybean.

Sunflower was gathered on the area of 12.0 thou ha (2014: 14.5 thou ha). Total sunflower output reached 34.8 thou tons, thus the average yield amounted to 29.0 hundredweight/ha.

7.3 thou tons of soybean were collected from 3.4 thou ha (2014 3.4 thou ha). The average yield totaled 21.1 hundredweight/ha.

These indicators are above the average yields in Ukraine. Thus, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine the average yield of sunflower totaled 21.2 hundredweight/ha, while the average yield of soybean reached 17.1 hundredweight/ha as of October 16.

“This year sunflower yield is higher than last year. It is due to several reasons. First and foremost, we used most appropriate hybrids for our region and took into account the results of thorough soil analysis. The flow process chart was also adjusted, namely the structure of fertilizers and PPPs was improved as well as seeds received additional insecticide treatment, which secured almost 100% synchronous sprouts. It is also worth noting that the quality of soil improved in general as the land under group’s control has been used for some time now.

As for soybeans, it is the weather that prevented to achieve the planned yield, i.e. high temperatures and lack of rainfall in August. In general, this season our region received only 55% of the average annual precipitation rate”, — says Yurii Lebedev, Chief agronomist of the Group.

The farms of the group have sown winter wheat on 9.7 thou ha (2014: 10.6 thou ha) by early October. As of today, sprouts of winter wheat are visualized on all the areas that have been planted.
