“ROSTOK-HOLDING” group successfully completed the spring sowing campaign.
The Group anticipates the gross yield of ca. 270 thou. tons in 2016 (2015: the croppage reached 265 thou. tons).
“This year a protracted and relatively cool spring has forced us to postpone the start of sowing campaign. However, we quickly adapted to the conditions and as a result we have finished sowing of key crops by mid-May. Rainfall in the second decade of this month also adjusted our calendar. As a result, it is only now that millet — a crop used to optimize the crop mix — has been sown”, — says Dmytro Kupavtsev, Chief Operations Officer of “ROSTOK-HOLDING”.
Just to recap, in 2016 the crop acreage is distributed as follows: corn is sown on 18.5 thou. ha (2015: 21.3 thou. ha), sunflower — 12.8 thou. ha (2015: 11.9 thou. ha), soybeans — 5.1 thou. ha (2015: 3.5 thou. ha), spring barley — 3.6 thou. ha (2015: 2.3 thou. ha).
As part of the crop mix upgrade millet was sown on the area of 1.2 thou. ha and peas — on 0.1 thou. ha. The area under fodder crops amounted to ca. 1.2 thou. ha.
In fall 2015, winter wheat was sawn on 9.7 thou. ha (fall 2015: 10.4 thou. ha).
