“ROSTOK-HOLDING” group successfully completed the spring sowing campaign 2018.
“Each sowing campaign is a busy time for agrarians. This year’s campaign was immensely complex: all the operations coincided in time. Closing of moisture, pre-sowing preparation, application of key fertilizers, nutrition of winter crops as well as sowing of all crops had to be carried out simultaneously, which is unprecedented in the history of the holding.
Accordingly, the agricultural machinery load was also significant. The decision to rent additional 10 tractors was made on time, which allowed finishing all fieldwork in optimal terms.
In parallel with the main fieldwork, we lay experimental spots. In 2018, maize with variable fertilizer rates and crop density will be sown on up to 400 hectares. These will be commodity crops in two locations — in Hlukhiv and Novhorod-Siverskii clusters», — says Dmytro Kupavtsev, Chief Operations Officer of “ROSTOK-HOLDING” Group.
Just to recap, the group sowed 6.8 thou hectares of winter wheat (in fall 2016: 7.7 thou hectares). Corn was sawn on the area of 22.5 thou hectares (2017: 21.5 thou hectares), soybeans — on 9.6 thou hectares (2017: 5.2 thou hectares), sunflower — on 9.6 thou hectares (2017: 12.4 thou hectares). The farms also sowed 5.2 thou hectares of spring barley (2017: 3.3 thou hectares) and 1.2 thou hectares of peas (2017: 1.0 thou hectares). The area under fodder crops and fallow land reaches ca. 1.4 thou hectares.
The Group anticipates the gross yield of ca. 350 thou. tons in 2018 (2017: the croppage reached 336 thou. tons).
